Once upon a time.......

living was tough and people struggled. Often the families were large and the income small. When farming and fishing were the main source of livelyhood and the men worked hard - day after day - year after year.

Numerous pregnancies and child births was a challenge for the women and frequently some of them died when giving birth.

The children had to leave home early to earn a living for themselves.
